Meg’s Journey

Magic has always whispered to me, hiding in plain sight where others saw only ordinary moments. As a child, I understood that every shadowed corner and quiet room held extraordinary potential—a world just beyond perception, waiting to be discovered.

Writing was my first true magic, a sanctuary where I could transform unspoken emotions into living stories. But growing up, I learned to quiet my imagination, believing the world had little space for dreamers and storytellers.

I moved to San Francisco for university and found myself living in a community that felt brimming with magic. Though surrounded by creatives, I remained deeply afraid to consider myself one of them. In my heart, a character emerged—Amoura, a teenage witch with her own story to tell. But fear kept her locked away. I carried her within me for over a decade, burying my identity as an artist. Instead, I channeled my creativity into teaching, finding purpose in nurturing young minds while keeping my own creative dreams carefully hidden.

As an elementary school teacher, I found another form of magic: igniting young imaginations. I watched students transform through storytelling, and in their wonder, I recognized my own forgotten passion, though I still wasn't ready to claim it.

Motherhood became my catalyst. Confronting the gap between the life I lived and the one I wanted for my daughter, I realized my truest self was always a writer. This revelation birthed "Amoura Awakened"—a novel about self-discovery, identity, and embracing one's authentic power.

Amoura's journey emerged as a reflection of my own: confronting inner critics, challenging societal expectations, and ultimately celebrating individuality. Through her story, I finally gave voice to themes of belonging, acceptance, and the transformative power of embracing one's unique magic.

In claiming my voice as a writer, I discovered my true purpose: creating stories of inclusion. I craft narratives that represent diverse experiences—cultural backgrounds, family structures, gender identities, and sexualities—because every young person deserves to see themselves reflected in stories of possibility and hope.

We all carry magic within us, though sometimes it takes years to acknowledge it. My mission is to help others discover their own extraordinary potential, one story at a time.
